Experience

I have been tutoring for over 10 years. Beginning in high school, I volunteered as a tutor for local at-risk elementary and high school students in my hometown of Morristown, NJ. I continued tutoring on a volunteer basis through college and started using my talents to earn a little extra money, while earning my engineering degree at Lehigh University. After college, I practiced engineering for a while before becoming bored with my career options, so I began my own tutoring business in the Annapolis, MD area. I primarily taught math to high school students, but I also received a few elementary, college, and adult students seeking help in all levels of math, chemistry, physics, statistics, and biology during my two years in Maryland. Recently, I enrolled at the University of Oregon as an M.Arch student beginning in the Summer of 2017. I have written a bit about my experiences both in math and science below. Academically, math has always been my strongest subject. In high school, I tried to take the most demanding math classes I could take. I completed AP Calculus AB with a 5 on the AP test, AP Calculus BC with a 5 on the AP test, and AP Statistics with a 4 on the AP test. I scored a 780 on my SAT math section, a 760 on my Math I subject test, and a 790 on my Math II subject test. Due to my high scores on the AP Calculus AB and BC tests, I placed out of Calculus I and II at Lehigh University. After these courses, I was required to take Calculus III (3 Dimensional Calculus) and Linear Algebra. Math has also been my most commonly taught area in the past two years, primarily focusing on algebra, statistics, and beginners calculus. While math is my strongest subject, the sciences have been my passion. I took AP Chemistry in high school and scored a 4 on the test. I also took physics in high school, but did not take the AP test. As an engineer in college I was required to take both Chemistry and Physics classes. I began college as a mechanical engineer, so I spent most of my first two years learning physics (physical, electrical, and magnetic) and dynamics. I switched to environmental engineering after my first two years, so I began to take many more chemistry classes (Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Chemical Engineering). As an environmental engineer I was also required to take Civil Engineering courses, so I am familiar with static physics and structures as well. My tutoring experience focuses primarily on physics, followed by chemistry and biology. **Please feel free to ask about group rates or extended lesson rates.

Hobbies

I recently moved to Eugene from the Annapolis, Maryland area in order to attend the University of Oregon. I am currently an enrolled student studying Architecture for my master's degree. I have a dog and a cat (Benji and Floki), who take up a lot of my time free time and are totally worth it! When I am not studying or taking care of my pets, I am playing basketball, going for hikes, climbing, or going out on the water. Anything to get outside and enjoy the beautiful Willamette Valley, Oregon Coast and mountains!
